3 Local Restaurants to Try in Navarre, Florida
Navarre Beach may get most of the attention, but some of our favorite places to eat are actually a few minutes away from the sand.
If you're visiting Navarre, Florida, it's easy to stick to the restaurants closest to the beach or fall back on familiar chains. But venture just a little farther into Navarre and you'll find laid-back local restaurants with great food, plenty of personality, and the kind of hospitality that makes you feel like you've been coming there for years.
We recently visited three of them: Scooter's Fish House, Where Y'at Seafood, and TC's Front Porch.
They're all very different, but they have one important thing in common: they're casual, welcoming places where you can come as you are.
Here's what you need to know before adding them to your Navarre restaurant list.
Scooter's Fish House
Scooter's Fish House came to us through one of our favorite sources for local recommendations: you guys.
One of our YouTube viewers recommended Scooter's on another Emerald Coast Playbook video, so naturally, we had to add it to the list.
Scooter's is exactly what we want from a casual Florida seafood spot. You don't need to dress up, the atmosphere is relaxed, and the focus is on the food.
And we need to talk about the shrimp tacos.
I ordered them on our visit and was obsessed. They're absolutely what I'd be tempted to order again the next time we go.
A Playbook Tip for Getting to Scooter's
Scooter's is especially convenient if you're coming back from a day on Navarre Beach.
When you leave Navarre Beach, take a left at the traffic light onto Highway 98. From there, turn right onto Highway 87 and then right again into Scooter's.
That means you're avoiding those frustrating left turns across Highway 98 traffic, which can be especially helpful when Navarre is busy during peak beach season.
It's a small detail, but when you've got tired and hungry kids in the car after a full day at the beach, small details matter.

Where Y'at Seafood
If Scooter's is about grabbing a great seafood meal, Where Y'at Seafood is somewhere you can make an evening out of dinner.
Where Y'at brings a little taste of Louisiana to Navarre.
The food has those Louisiana and Cajun influences you'd expect, but the atmosphere is a huge part of the experience too. It's relaxed, fun, and feels more like hanging out at a neighborhood gathering than going to a formal restaurant.
If you're craving a taste of Louisiana without actually having to go to Louisiana, put this one on your list.
Live Music at Where Y'at
Music is a big part of the atmosphere at Where Y'at.
They frequently host live music, and the owner is actually part of a band himself.
When there's music playing, this becomes much more than a place to grab dinner. You can order your food, settle in and spend some time enjoying the evening.

A Great Option With Kids
Parents will appreciate another feature of Where Y'at: the outdoor space where kids can play.
Sometimes you want to enjoy dinner without repeatedly asking your kids to sit back down.
Having somewhere for them to stretch their legs can make the entire experience more enjoyable for everyone, particularly if you're traveling with younger kids.
Between the Louisiana-inspired food, live music and outdoor atmosphere, Where Y'at offers an experience that's very different from the typical beach restaurant.

TC's Front Porch
Of our three restaurants, TC's Front Porch is the closest to Navarre Beach, making it an easy option when you want to venture off the island without going very far.
And the name really does capture the atmosphere.
There's something about a front porch that immediately feels welcoming. It's where people gather, conversations happen and nobody needs to be in a hurry.
TC's has that same feeling.
It's casual enough to stop by after a beach day and welcoming enough that it feels less like walking into a restaurant and more like somebody told you to pull up a chair.
The menu offers options beyond seafood too, which can be particularly helpful when you're feeding a family where everyone wants something different.
But what stands out most to us about TC's is the atmosphere.
It's that easygoing, small-town hospitality that is still very much a part of Navarre.
TC's Front Porch is our pick for: A convenient, casual meal close to Navarre Beach with plenty of local personality.
Which Navarre Restaurant Should You Choose?
All three restaurants offer something different.
Choose Scooter's Fish House if you've been at Navarre Beach all day, you're hungry for seafood, and you want something casual and easy.
Choose Where Y'at Seafood if you want Louisiana-inspired food, frequent live music and somewhere the kids have room to stretch their legs.
Choose TC's Front Porch if you want to stay relatively close to Navarre Beach while experiencing a laid-back local restaurant with a welcoming atmosphere.

Don't Spend Your Entire Navarre Vacation at the Beach
Navarre Beach is obviously one of the biggest reasons people come here.
But don't spend your entire vacation on the island.
And don't spend every meal at a chain restaurant you could visit back home.
Venture out a little.
Some of the places that give Navarre its personality aren't sitting directly on the Gulf. They're tucked into the community, serving locals and visitors side by side.
You may be pleasantly surprised by the food, the people and the hospitality you find once you explore beyond the beach.
