How We'd Spend a Summer Evening in Navarre, Florida

Most people leave Navarre way too early.

They spend the day on the beach, grab dinner, head back to their hotel or condo, and never realize that some of the best moments happen after the beach day is over.

If you're looking for a relaxing way to end the day, here's one of our favorite evening itineraries. It's simple, doesn't require rushing from place to place, and reminds us why we love calling the Emerald Coast home.

Stop 1: Slow Down on the Sound Side

When most people picture Navarre Beach, they think of the Gulf. And while we absolutely love the Gulf, the sound side has a completely different personality.

The water is usually calmer, boats drift by, paddleboarders enjoy the evening, kids splash in the shallows, and families settle in for a slower pace.

On our last visit, my mom was in town, so before dinner we packed up a few kites and headed to the sound. It ended up being one of those evenings that didn't need much of a plan.

The kids ran up and down the shoreline flying kites, nobody was checking the time, and everyone was simply enjoying being together.

Those are often the memories that stick with us the longest.

Playbook Tip

Give yourself more time than you think you'll need.

Bring a couple of beach chairs, a blanket, your favorite drinks, and maybe even a football, Frisbee, or kite if it's breezy. Don't rush straight from the beach to dinner—this slower pace is part of what makes Navarre so special.

Stop 2: Enjoy Dinner with a View at Emerald Waterfront

One thing we've learned since moving to the Emerald Coast is that where you eat can be just as important as what you eat.

One of our favorite waterfront restaurants is Emerald Waterfront.

If possible, make your reservation around sunset and ask to sit outside. The views over the water are beautiful, especially as the sky changes colors throughout the evening.

Beyond the scenery, we've always appreciated how welcoming and accommodating the staff has been. It creates the kind of atmosphere where nobody feels rushed.

Families will also appreciate the yard games, swings overlooking the water, and several fun photo opportunities. Our kids loved having room to play while we waited for dinner, which made the whole experience more relaxing for everyone.

Stop 3: Grab Sushi from Slippery Mermaid

Looking for something a little different?

Slippery Mermaid has become one of Navarre's most popular sushi spots, and for good reason.

Our favorite tip is to order ahead during busy season.

Instead of waiting for a table, grab your order to go and head back toward the beach.

Eating fresh sushi with your feet in the sand while watching the sun set is one of those simple experiences that feels uniquely Emerald Coast.

Sometimes the best table in town doesn't have four walls.

Stop 4: End the Night at Juana's

If you're still not ready to call it a night, make one final stop at Juana's.

It's difficult to describe because it's more than just a restaurant or bar.

People gather here for the atmosphere.

Live music drifts across the water, boats return to the dock, string lights begin to glow, and everyone seems to settle into the evening.

Whether you're on vacation, enjoying date night, or catching up with friends, Juana's captures the relaxed coastal lifestyle that makes this area so special.

Nobody seems to be in a hurry—and honestly, that's part of the charm.
