Shorter lines, nighttime rides, complimentary snacks, and a surprisingly exclusive experience. Here's what we thought after attending Universal Nights in October 2026.
If you've been dreaming about visiting Universal Epic Universe without spending your entire day waiting in lines, Universal Nights might be exactly what you're looking for.
We attended Universal Nights on October 17, 2026, and walked away with one big takeaway: this actually felt like an exclusive theme park experience.
We've visited plenty of theme parks and special-ticketed events as a family, so we're always looking at whether the experience justifies the additional cost.
And Universal Nights surprised us in some really good ways.
Here's what we loved, what we'd do differently, and whether we think it's worth adding to your Orlando vacation.
What Is Universal Nights at Epic Universe?
Universal Nights is a separately ticketed, limited-capacity after-hours event at Universal Epic Universe in Orlando, Florida.
For the 2026 event, guests receive:
Early park entry beginning at 7 p.m.
Exclusive event access from 9 p.m. until midnight.
Access to attractions throughout Epic Universe.
Character interactions and entertainment.
Complimentary specialty snacks.
Coca-Cola Freestyle beverages with an included souvenir cup.
Tickets started at approximately $180 per person before taxes, making this a significant additional expense for families.
The big selling point? Getting to experience Epic Universe with fewer people in the park.
The Biggest Surprise: It Actually Felt Exclusive
We've attended special events at other Orlando theme parks where the crowds still felt substantial.
Universal Nights was different.
The lower crowd levels completely changed how we experienced Epic Universe.
Instead of constantly watching the clock or trying to figure out which attraction had the shortest line, we could actually enjoy being there.
We wandered through the themed lands, took in the details, and experienced the park at a much more relaxed pace.
It also meant more opportunities for interactions with Universal's team members.
Those little conversations and moments made the night feel more personal and memorable.
For us, this was one of the biggest reasons the event stood out.
What Were the Ride Wait Times Like?
One of the main reasons to purchase a Universal Nights ticket is the opportunity to enjoy popular attractions with shorter waits.
And overall, we loved the reduced crowds.
However, there's one important thing to know if you're counting on single rider lines.
Many of the single rider lines were closed during our visit.
That was a little unexpected, especially if you're accustomed to using single rider lines to maximize your time at theme parks.
Toward the end of the night, we were able to use the single rider line for Mine-Cart Madness, the Donkey Kong attraction in Super Nintendo World.
Our advice? Don't build your entire evening around single rider availability.
Instead, take advantage of the lower overall crowds and prioritize your must-do attractions.
Exploring Epic Universe at Night
Epic Universe is beautiful during the day, but there's something especially impressive about experiencing it after dark.
The lighting, immersive environments, and nighttime atmosphere make the park feel completely different.
Universal Nights gives you the opportunity to explore all five themed worlds:
Celestial Park: The central hub of Epic Universe, with impressive architecture, illuminated fountains, and attractions.
Super Nintendo World: A colorful, interactive world that brings Mario and Donkey Kong adventures to life.
How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk: A beautifully themed land that feels like stepping into the animated films.
Dark Universe: A darker, monster-inspired world with an incredible atmosphere after sunset.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic: An immersive experience that brings another corner of the Wizarding World to life.
We loved being able to appreciate the details without feeling surrounded by overwhelming crowds.
Let's Talk About the Food
One of the perks of Universal Nights is the complimentary food and beverages.
And here's our confession: we completely forgot about some of the included perks until later in the evening!
Universal Nights included complimentary Kimchi Bao, Celestial Popcorn, and Coca-Cola Freestyle beverages.
We grabbed a bao on our way out, and it was so good!
We also really enjoyed the turtle shell calzones in Super Nintendo World during our visit.
One thing worth knowing is that not every food item in the park is included with your ticket. The complimentary offerings are specific snacks, while other restaurants and specialty foods are available for purchase.
If you're planning to attend, familiarize yourself with what's included before you arrive.
Don't make our mistake and remember the snacks at the very end of the night!
Our Unexpected Filming Problem
Here's a little behind-the-scenes moment from our visit.
My SD card ended up being full.
Normally, that would be incredibly frustrating, especially when you're trying to capture footage for a travel video.
But this time, it actually turned out to be a good thing.
Instead of spending the entire evening filming, I was able to put the camera away and enjoy the experience.
And honestly, Universal Nights was the perfect event for that.
The smaller crowds, relaxed atmosphere, and opportunity to explore made it one of those nights where being present was better than trying to document every second.
Sometimes the best family travel memories happen when you're not looking through a camera.
Was Universal Nights Worth the Price?
At approximately $180 or more per ticket, Universal Nights is not a budget-friendly add-on.
For a family, those costs can add up quickly.
But value isn't always about how many hours you spend inside a park.
It's also about what you're able to experience during those hours.
With Universal Nights, you're paying for:
A limited-capacity experience.
Shorter attraction waits.
The opportunity to explore Epic Universe after dark.
Included specialty snacks and beverages.
A more relaxed overall park experience.
If your primary goal is to experience as many attractions as possible, this event could be a worthwhile alternative to spending an entire busy day in the park.
However, if you're traveling with very young children, prefer daytime park experiences, or don't plan to ride many attractions, the additional ticket cost might be harder to justify.
Our Tips for Attending Universal Nights
After our experience, here are a few things we'd recommend.
1. Arrive when early entry begins.
Your ticket allows entry before the exclusive event officially starts. Use that extra time to explore, eat, and get oriented.
2. Prioritize your must-do attractions.
Even with fewer crowds, you only have a limited number of exclusive event hours.
3. Don't count on single rider lines.
Some may be unavailable during the event.
4. Know which snacks are included.
Take advantage of the complimentary offerings instead of discovering them on your way out like we did!
5. Enjoy the atmosphere.
Don't get so caught up in riding everything that you forget to appreciate how beautiful Epic Universe is at night.
6. Check height requirements before purchasing tickets.
If you're traveling with younger children, make sure there are enough attractions and experiences your family can enjoy to justify the cost.
Would We Attend Universal Nights Again?
Absolutely.
What stood out wasn't just the shorter lines or the included snacks.
It was how the entire experience felt.
We genuinely felt like we were attending an exclusive event rather than simply visiting a theme park during extended hours.
We had more room to explore, more opportunities to interact with team members, and less pressure to rush through everything.
For us, that's what made Universal Nights special.
And if Universal continues offering this experience, it's definitely something we'd consider doing again.
Universal Nights vs. Disney's Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party
Wondering how Universal Nights compares to one of Orlando's most popular separately ticketed events?
We've attended both!
While Disney delivers a fantastic Halloween atmosphere, Universal Nights offers a different kind of experience focused on lower crowds and enjoying Epic Universe after dark.
